30 kilometers north of Hluhluwe, in north-western Zululand Kwa-Zulu-Natal, South Africa the Manyoni Private Game Reserve (previously the Zululand Rhino Reserve) is made up of some 17 farms that have dropped their fences and so created the 23,000 ha endangered species reserve where some 21 black rhino were released during October 2005. A most successful initiative with the Park now home to the Big Five with the recent reintroduction of lion. The game viewing is very good with a wide diversity of species.

Manyoni Private Game Reserve (Zululand Rhino Reserve) reserve is host to Rhino – both Black and White Rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard as well as cheetah, caracal, serval, genet and hyena along with hippo, giraffe which are numerous, warthog, baboon and vervet monkey and then a variety of antelope. Kudu, impala, nyala, common reedbuck, waterbuck, duiker, mountain reedbuck, suni, red bush duiker. Bush-babies and mongoose. The bird life is excellent and the area is a haven for the endangered leopard tortoise.

Guided game drives, visits to hides and bush walks are offered by some of the Lodges in the reserve which has some beautiful riparian forests, open grasslands, bushveld and some hilly craggy topography, the ideal home for leopard.
