Nselweni Bush Camp
Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal, South AfricaThe Nselweni Bush Camp is sited on a terrace with views overlooking the Black Mfolozi River. This bush camp has been built as a joint venture with members of the surrounding local community and funded in part by the Conservation Levy one pays when visiting the Hluhluwe uMfolozi Game Park.
Numerous animals may be seen from the Lodge coming to slake their thirst at the river whilst a troop of baboon seek the safety of the sheer cliffs downstream and on the opposite side of the river for their overnight repose.
Ten two sleeper brick under canvas accommodation units each have an en-suite shower and toilet as well as their own kitchen. Max 2 persons per unit.
Visitors must bring all food for the meals as well as their drinks.
The water at Nselweni Bush Camp is temporarily not fit for drinking. Please bring your own drinking water.
There is no restaurant at Nselweni. The electrical 220 V supply is from a generator. This for the fans and lights whilst hot water shower, fridge and stove use gas. The generator is turned off at around 22h00.
There is a central ‘conference’ facility with kitchen. This may be used by larger groups staying at Nselweni Camp as a central cooking and dining area. All cooking needs will be done by visitors.
Please note that this bush camp is not fenced other than for an electrified elephant wire and dangerous animals may enter the area, so one should be aware of this, especially during the night. We suggest that you bring torches. Hyena in the evenings and monkeys and baboon scavenging during the day can be a nuisance. Do not feed any of the animals.
Views from River view units are not guaranteed as bush may block the view at certain times of the year.
Note that all bush camps should only be accessed by 4 x 4, 4 x 2, SUV with high clearance.
***Please note that although the water is suitable for bathing and cooking, it is recommended that one does not drink the water and to buy or bring your own supply.
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife have decided to implement a ban on visitors bringing firewood into any of their Reserves.
Visitors can still purchase firewood from the curio shop that have been safely sourced from Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer -free areas.
We are only a booking service to secure accommodation at a number of the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife park accommodation venues. We are in no way responsible for the condition of the facilities, which due to severe budgetry cuts from our Provincial Government, has resulted in a lack of general maintenance over the years, with many of the accommodation facilities severely jeopardised and in need of urgent repair or closure. The Park authorities are well aware of this inability to carry out basic necessary maintenance and are endevouring to source the necessary funds which to date have not become available. Far and Wild Safaris has no control over the allocation of units and their condition. Should you choose to visit these venues and subsequently find fault with the accommodation and or service, we are only able to forward your comments to the Park authorities. There is no compensation for this status quo should it not meet your expectation. Please contact ourselves should you require further clarification.
